All aluminium alloys can be powder coated to give a decorative surface. Generally speaking there are no limits in terms of colour. We can supply powder coated profiles in RAL or NCS colours.
Small components as well as lengths of up to 6 metres can be powder coated. In certain cases we can also supply powder coated materials of up to 9 metres in length.
Powder coating is a method, which is free from solvents and it is not harmful to the environment. One of the advantages with powder coating is the excellent adherence and that shaping of the product can be carried out after coating. The profiles are pre-treated to ensure maximum adherence. The pre-treatment normally consists of degreasing and pickling and a chemical treatment called chromating. The pre-treatment ends with the rinsing of the profiles in de-ionised water. The pre-treated profiles are coated with polyester powder during the process. Through electrostatic or friction charging, the powder is applied to the profile. The powder is then hardened in an oven at a temperature of 180° C.
Conventional "wet" coating is sometimes used and the paint is then applied by dipping, spraying, rolling or curtain coating. Whether powder coating or wet coating is carried out, the pre-treatment is the same.
We are able to carry out powder coating. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
